At some point, Ernst Meerbeck no longer wanted to be satisfied with buckets and started to develop bongs himself. He started with the head store 'Near Dark' in Bonn and then in Dortmund. At that time, he also imported his first bongs from abroad. The devices quickly sold like hot cakes and it became clear that Near Dark would enter the B2B business as a wholesaler and supply the broad mass of German stoners with unusual tuxedo paraphernalia and other accessories via the retail trade.
